Gran Bierzo Tinto Mencia Reserva 2002

You will be bowled over by this wine!! Mencia, the red grape of Bierzo is only found there. Mencia usually resembles cherries and a hint of fruits of the forest. When the wine is a Reserva, as in this case, the fruit becomes a vehicle for the American oak barrel that it has been aged in. So, almost creamy notes of vanilla come through with the cherries. A very fine wine indeed.
